The Hangleton and Knoll Festival is a community arts festival, organised and run by volunteers from the Hangleton and Knoll area.
Our aims are to: -
- Promote Community Arts in the local area
- To organise events that encourage involvement and participation from all section of the local community
- To promote community spirit and a sense of pride in the area through the organisation of celebratory and educational community events
- To promote and encourage use of community green space and other local venues.
During the 2010 summer festival, The Hangleton and Knoll Festival, worked alongside various community groups, organised a huge variety of events. These included…
- The 6th annual Medieval Festival weekend at Greenleas Park
- The Children's Parade which opened the festival
- Children's Craft Drop-Ins and Workshops to promote arts and crafts.
- A Story-time themed event for under 5's to promote reading (With Sunbeams Toddler Group)
- A Children's Disco (With Fun 4 Kids Club for 4-11 year olds and Ace-Leisure)
- A Disco for adults in the Grenadier Public House
- A Bingo and Karaoke Evening (With Knoll Community Association)
- Historical walks and talks about Hangleton, with Trevor Povey, local historian.
- A Nature-Themed Fun-Day in Knoll Park (With Friends of Knoll Park )
And much more… including a multi-cultural event organised by the Women's Coffee Morning Group and Computer drop-ins organised by Hakit.
